Tardy Policy
TARDY vs. ABSENT
A student will be marked TARDY if . . .
they are not physically across the threshold of the classroom door when the bell stops ringing/Bronco stops neighing.
STUDENTS ARE CONSIDERED TARDY IF ENTERING THE CLASSROOM . . .
within the first 0-9 minutes of class without an excused pass.
STUDENT ARE CONSIDERED ABSENT IF ENTERING THE CLASSROOM . . .
10 or more minutes late to class.
The student will be marked absent due to the 90% attendance rule. (Classes are approximately 50 minutes long, and students can only miss 9 minutes of class to be in compliance with the 90% attendance rule.) On the 10th minute and each thereafter, the student is no longer tardy, but is now considered absent.
PROCEDURES FOR A TARDY
The student’s teacher will mark him/her Tardy (0-9 minutes) or Absent (10+ minutes) as they enter the classroom. Both the parents and student will receive an automated email the day of the tardy stating the Period and Date of tardy with a description of the assigned discipline (if any is needed).
