McKinney ISD - Device Protection Plan - Enrollment Deadline is TOMORROW Monday 9/30

If you choose to not pay for the MISD Device Protection Plan before the 9/30 deadline, you will be responsible for the full cost of repairs or replacement of the device.  Repairs range from $450 to $750.

The protection plan is under the School Store menu – Store Home.

The MISD Device Protection Plan is $74, or $37 if your student is receiving free/reduced lunch. The Device Protection Plan can be paid online through MySchoolBucks.com or to the campus bookkeeper via cash or check.

If you are planning to attend the Pep Rally on Thursday, October 3rd, please send us the names of people in your party who plan to attend (via the google form link below). Please park in the NORTH PARKING LOT. Each attendant will need to provide their ID as you enter the building. You will be required to walk through our Evolv security system. If you have filled this form out, you will then pick up your badge and enter the gym. If you have never signed into an MISD school, we will have to scan your ID to get you into our security system for the first time.

We will begin the sign-in process at 8:45am and the pep rally will start just after 9:30am. Thank you for your help to expedite the new security and visitor sign-in process. This form will not accept responses after Wednesday, 10/2 at 2:00pm.

PSAT - Wednesday 10/9

All Sophomores will be taking the PSAT on Wednesday, 10/9, as well as students from other grade levels who signed up and paid prior to the deadline.  Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors need to arrive to school at a normal time, but SENIORS will have a late start that day.  Seniors may enter the front of the building starting at 10:15 AM, and head to the cafeteria.  We will be taking attendance for Seniors at 10:30 AM.  

Fall Community Resource Night - Thursday 10/17

Weighted Course Drop Reminder

A reminder that this course drop window was moved from the 9 weeks to NOW, the 6 weeks.  Please fill out the Exit Request Form (Form Linked Here) and turn it in to your house counselor.  Forms will also be available in the counseling office.  Completed forms are due to your house counselor by September 24, 2024 (by 5 pm)

Good afternoon! I hope your weekend has been good! Our past week was pretty spectacular, including but not limited to: Meet the Teacher, Broncofest, Homecoming, a Varsity Football victory on Friday, a Volleyball sweep on all 3 levels on Friday, and probably a thousand other great things I’m forgetting!!

Free and Reduced Lunch (FRL) - Deadline 9/21

Students currently FRL who have not submitted a 24-25 FRL Application will be dropped from the FRL program on 9/21

Parents can go to https://www.myschoolapps.com/ to submit an application online (the application is in English & Spanish).  Paper applications are also available in the Counseling Center and Front Office.

AVID College Week - 9/16 to 9/20

MISD College Night information - Monday 9/16

6-8pm at MNHS (park on north side in student parking)

The McKinney Education Foundation (MEF) will host College Night on Monday 9/16, from 6 – 8 p.m. at McKinney North High School.  All MISD high school students and their families are invited to attend! The event will feature representatives from more than 100 colleges and universities as well as military to meet with MISD students. In addition, there will be two financial aid presentations for juniors or seniors! Admission is free.  Parking will be available on the north side of campus in McKinney North’s student parking lot off of Community Drive.

Invitation to perform with the Bailadoras during pregame at the Boyd football game vs Plano Sr. High on October 18th at the MISD Stadium.  Check-in on the north end of the stadium at 5:45pm wearing Camp tshirt.  Pregame victory lines contagions performance with the Bailadoras on the football field. They will help make the tunnel for the football team to run through & that performance begins at 6:30pm. Sit & dance with the Bailadoras in the stands during 1st quarter.  Need to be picked up by parent by the end of the 1st quarter

Boyd Orchestra & WFAA Santa’s Helpers - Community Service Toy Drive

Starting Oct 8 at Fall Concert- ending Dec 4

Place unwrapped toys for North Texas children (from infants to 18 years old) in large wrapped holiday boxes in the Orchestra Room (or anywhere else in the building they pop up). 

From Our Nurse, Nurse Patricia: 

No Tolerance Policy:

  • McKinney ISD has a no tolerance policy for students in possession of medication of any kind.  

  • All medications are to be stored in the nurse’s office with the exception of prescribed medications for the treatment of asthma, anaphylaxis and diabetes. Students are not to carry these emergency medications without an approved health plan on file in the clinic.

Medications in the Clinic: 

  • All medications administered at school must be brought to the clinic by a parent or guardian. The MISD medication administration form must be completed prior to dropping off medication. Students are not allowed to drop off or take home their medication(s) from the school clinic. 

  • Medication forms can be found here.

  • ALL medication forms must have BOTH a parent signature AND a doctor’s signature for the clinic to accept your medication.

If you do not make an appointment prior to coming to the clinic, be prepared to wait in the front office until the nurse can give you her full attention.

On August 30th, McKinney ISD sent out information regarding the MAP test.  We will be giving the MAP test to English 1 and Algebra 1 students the week of September 16th-20th.

If you are attending the Parade, but not participating please park in the North parking lot.  If you are participating in the parade, please carpool and park in the south parking lot

Food trucks and games are in the back of the school (east lot) by the tennis courts and athletic fields (no parking in the back area/east lot).  Food trucks will be around from 5-7 PM.

Pep Rally & Homecoming - Friday 9/13 
We sent an email out on Thursday, 9/5, in regards to the pep rally.  Please refer to that email for more detailed information.

If you think it would be best for your child to be excused from attending the pep rally you must let us know by submitting this Google Form:  https://forms.gle/Uo6nFFg9NGdwctpG9.  The students on this list will be allowed to stay in the library in lieu of participating.

For your information, to help with event planning for your families.  My apologies for not getting this in a parent newsletter prior to our first home varsity football game.  (Our next home game is Homecoming, September 13th)

On game day, after 3 pm, ticket prices rise to $10 for both students and adults for general admission.

Meet the Teacher - Monday 9/9
Join us for Meet the Teacher on Monday, September 9!

  • 4:30-5:30 PM

    • Our very own Griddle Club will be providing hotdogs on the back porch.

    • Our fantastic PTO has arranged for a Snow Cone Truck!  The snow cone truck will be out back also!

    • Students and parents can visit with ALL our Clubs & Organizations in the Cafeteria. Enter through the North/Student Lot around the back.

  • 5:30-7:00 PM

    • Meet the Teacher! Students can walk their parents through their schedule and introduce them to our amazing teaching staff!

  • Make sure to stop by the rotunda where our awesome PTO will have lots of Boyd gear for sale!

Parents and students can park in any of our 3 lots. The North, Main and South entrances will be open for entry as well the back porch area.

Homecoming Mums & Garters Sale
Boyd Choir is proud to provide a simple and convenient way for you to purchase your homecoming mums and garters.  Homecoming mum & garter sales will begin the week of August 26th. Information and order forms will be available at all lunches on the stage in the cafeteria as well as through QR codes posted throughout the school. We encourage you to order online HERE. Order by September 6th to have them delivered to the school by September 11th. All orders placed after September 6th will have to be picked up from The Mum Shop storefront.

Hearing, Vision, and Acanthosis Nigricans health screenings will be conducted during the first semester of school for all McKinney ISD students.  MBHS Screenings will be conducted throughout the school year for students new to MISD.  Texas State Law requires that the following students be screened: 

Vision and Hearing: 
PK, KG, 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th 

All students new to MISD 

Acanthosis Nigricans: 
1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th 

Regarding the ‘Time Deadline’ for Leaving School Early
The deadline for parents to contact Boyd for their student to leave early is 2:15 PM.  Please plan accordingly and thank you!

Free and Reduced Lunch Form
In case this is difficult to find anywhere, please go here: https://www.myschoolapps.com/ to apply for Free and Reduced Lunch. The application will determine a child’s eligibility for free and reduced-price meals and may assist in the determination of eligibility for other state or federal benefits. Only one application needs to be completed per household. Schools will notify the household of the child’s eligibility. The grace period for submitting an application ends on September 20th.
