My apologies for leaving out our amazing and extremely hardworking Athletic Trainers and Student Athletic Trainers last week in my football shoutout! It was NOT intentional. I hope you got a chance to see the Broadway Broncos’ musical “Disney’s the Little Mermaid”. It was FANTASTIC! We have such talented students at Boyd!! Lastly, I had a great time on Friday congratulating all of the AP Scholars. As a former AP teacher, that meant a lot to me to even have a small moment with our AP students.

Bronco Expo - Wednesday, November 20
6-8pm at McKinney Boyd High School
High school course registration for next year will start earlier than previous years. Incoming 9th grade Broncos, meaning current 8th graders zoned for Boyd, will need to select courses for next year by mid-December. Current 9th, 10th, and 11th graders will need to have next year's selections made by mid-January. Our counseling team will make their usual rounds through classes soon to answer questions and distribute course selection information.
If you have questions regarding the upcoming registration offerings for next school year, please join us at our first Bronco Expo! Current 8th graders zoned for Boyd and current Broncos are invited to attend! We will have tables clustered in the main hallway by 'next year's grade level' so staff and volunteer students can answer any questions. If you have been curious about our various offerings, PLEASE join us anytime from 6-8pm. We will have a presentation in the auditorium for current 8th graders from 6-6:30pm and for all other grades from 6:30-7:00pm.
Please let me explain the difference between our 'open house' style events at Boyd:
Many months before the next school year, Bronco Expo is mainly about next year's course selections and course offerings for all students.
Right before the next school year, in early August, Bronco Camp is meant to teach incoming freshmen the Bronco Way and instill school spirit.
A month after the start of the school year, Meet the Teacher is for all student families to meet their student’s new teachers.
We hope to see you this Wednesday on November 20th!
MacTown Miracles - From NOW until December 13
Our McKinney ISD service project, MacTown Miracles, was founded 19 years ago by the Student Council at McKinney North High School. Since then, it has become a collaborative effort among the Student Councils at all three MISD high schools. This holiday season, we are excited to work together to feed over 700 families in the McKinney community.
At Boyd, we’re focused on collecting canned corn and green beans to contribute to the meal packages. In addition to food items, our Student Council is aiming to raise $2,800 in cash donations to help cover the cost of the meat for these meals.
How You Can Help
Encourage Your Students to Donate Canned Goods: To spur participation, Green Cord volunteers will receive 1 hour of service for every 10 items donated (up to a maximum of 70 items for 7 hours).
Participate and Help Advertise Spirit Nights: We’ll be partnering with local restaurants, and they’ll be generously donating a portion of their sales! The next one is detailed below:
Where: Pickleman’s (on 380 between Lake Forest & Hardin)
When: Monday, November 18, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM
Details: Tell them you’re with McKinney Boyd Student Council!
3. Shop/Share Our Wishlists: We’ve created online wishlists for added convenience.
Amazon Wishlist - School address linked for easy delivery
Walmart Wishlist - Items will need to be dropped off at Boyd by the donor
Thank you for your support! Let us know if you have any questions.

Pop-Up Thrift Shop by EAC (Student Club) - Saturday, November 9, 2024
9 AM - Noon In the MBHS North Parking Lot
This is the third year the EAC is hosting a pop-up thrift store, and we need your help!
As you transition your closet from summer to fall/winter and you find yourself getting rid of things – please let us take them! We are looking for teen, men’s, and women’s clothing and shoes (NO kid's clothes or home goods, please). November 9th we will host our event in the north parking lot for the community to shop. The remaining clothes will go to AVID’s caring closet, Salvation Army/Samaritan Inn, or any other local group in need.
Funds will go to continue our work in the flower beds on the south end (and eventually, we plan to work on the north side). Please bring donations to the front office this week-- if you can put them in boxes, that would be helpful, but trash bags also work!
