Need a Recommendation Letter?

Students must request letters of recommendation from teachers and counselors through Naviance. When requesting a teacher recommendation, choose someone who knows you well and can provide colleges with an accurate and positive representation of your strengths, character, and accomplishments.

Teachers and Outside Recommenders Requests

  1. In Naviance, navigate to the Colleges tab and follow the prompts under Letters of Recommendation to submit your request.

  2. For Non-MISD Recommenders of McKinney Boyd Students (coach, boss, mentor, etc.):
    Ask your recommender to:

    • Save their letter as a PDF

    • Email it to jferraro@mckinneyisd.net

    • Use the subject line: Your Full Name – Recommendation Letter

Counselor Letters of Recommendation Requests

  1. Complete the Beginning of the Year Senior Survey.

  2. In Naviance, navigate to the Colleges tab and follow the prompts under Letters of Recommendation to submit your request.

  3. Be prepared to meet with your counselor if additional information is needed. Your counselor may schedule a conference to discuss your experiences, accomplishments, goals, and other information that will help strengthen your letter.

Please allow 2–3 weeks after all required steps have been completed for your counselor to submit your letter of recommendation.

Need a Transcript?

(Current McKinney Boyd High School Seniors Only)

All transcript requests for college and scholarship applications must be submitted through Naviance.

To request a transcript:

  1. Open the Colleges tab.

  2. Select Manage Transcripts.

  3. Click the blue + (plus) button.

  4. Choose the appropriate transcript request type and submit your request.

Please allow 2–3 weeks for processing after your request is submitted.

Final transcripts are also requested and sent through Naviance.

Need a Transcript for Something Other Than College?

Whether you need a transcript for a scholarship, sorority recruitment, insurance, or another purpose, you can download an unofficial copy at no cost.

How to Download:

  • Go to Manage Transcripts

  • Click Download Unofficial Transcript in the upper-right corner

  • Open the downloaded file to view and save your transcript
