Bringing Joy to the Community – Glen Oaks 4th & 5th Grade Choir

Santa’s elves have got NOTHING on the 4th and 5th grade choir students at Glen Oaks Elementary! Weeks ago the multi-tasking singers combined choral practice with art class in an effort to spread good will and cheer to the community this holiday season. Art teacher, Tracie Holt, and music teacher, Aaron Flores, teamed up for this service project that delivers both music and a made-from-the heart ornament for residents in assisted living facilities in McKinney.

🦉✨ Our kindergarteners had an amazing visit from the Blackland Prairie Raptor Center! They loved learning about birds of prey and their role in our ecosystem. Thank you for bringing science to life for our young learners!

Today we celebrated Pink Out Day for breast cancer awareness, and our GO teachers got some fun Friday treats from the Whoot Whoot Wagon!

Our 2nd grade students had an amazing day with a special visit from the fire department! 🚒🔥
They learned so much through hands-on stations about severe weather, when and how to contact 9-1-1 during emergencies, the importance of community helpers, a home fire escape plan, and safety precautions. Thank you to our local heroes for helping us stay safe and prepared, and a big thank you to Coach Meadows and the specials team for piloting this experience! 🧑🚒👨🚒
Across grade levels, our students have been presented with real-life problem scenarios in which they must imagine, plan, collaborate, test out their creation, make improvements, and reflect. This is engineering design!
