Tax Rate History

McKinney ISD's total property tax rate has declined for five consecutive years, dropping nearly 28% since the 2021–22 school year.

During that time, the district's total property tax rate has decreased from $1.4747 to $1.0664 per $100 of taxable property value, representing a reduction of more than 40 cents.

For the 2026–27 school year, McKinney ISD's adopted tax rate is $1.0664 per $100 of taxable value, nearly 4 cents lower than the previous year's rate of $1.1043.

The five-year decline reflects changes in the district's tax rate as McKinney ISD continues to fund educational programs, staffing, facility maintenance and daily operations.

While the district's tax rate has decreased, individual property tax bills may vary based on changes in property values, exemptions and other factors.

The district's property tax rate consists of two components: Maintenance and Operations (M&O), which supports day-to-day district operations, and Interest and Sinking (I&S), which is used to repay voter-approved bonds.
