Here are the details for the High School Summer School for acceleration program for rising 9th graders. The dates to register for a class are April 4-17th. No students will be allowed to register for a class for acceleration after April 17th.
Summer School Dates:
June 2: Canvas courses open at 8:00 AM June 20: Canvas courses close at 11:00 AM (All coursework must be completed by this time)
Tuition:
$225 per semester course $50 per semester course for students receiving free/reduced lunch or currently enrolled in the AVID elective
No refunds will be provided under any circumstances, so please ensure the student can complete the course by the due date.
Available Accelerated Courses for Rising 9th Graders:
Students are only allowed to register for one course for the summer with the exception of Art.
Professional Communications (0.5 credit)
Health (0.5 credit)
Foundations for Personal Fitness PE-A (0.5 credit)
Fitness for Life PE-B (0.5 credit)
Art 1A (0.5 credit) (recommended to take both semesters online)
Art 1B (0.5 credit) (recommended to take both semesters online)

Opens: April 4, 2025
Closes: April 17, 2025
Payment Due by April 21, 2025 (Payment must be made online through My School Bucks to complete registration)
Please note that your child must be approved by their school counselor during the registration process. This approval is completed through an automated process, so there is no need to contact the counselor directly for approval.
Summer School Communication:
Once your child is registered, they will receive a welcome email from their summer school teacher by May 29, 2025. Your student MUST check their school email to access the class! If you do not receive this email by 1:00 PM on that date, please contact the summer school office at summerschool@mckinneyisd.net.
Course Access:
Platform: Students will access their courses through the Canvas LMS platform.
Teacher Availability:
Monday to Thursday: 9:00-11:00 AM & 4:00-6:00 PM
Friday: 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM
