Our second graders recently completed their ELAR unit on Fairy Tales. Teachers incorporated several STEM activities using fairy tales! Cross curricular learning helps students make connections and builds memory! #proudtobeaBEAR

Our 3rd graders began their cross-curricular unit today using the book "Lemonade Wars". They began by taste testing lemonade and graphing their favorites in different ways, followed by using sensory words in their writing! #proudtobeaBEAR

2 more sleeps until the PTO Variety Show! We had dress rehearsal today and our Bears are ready to rock the stage! Student show is during the school day. At our recent open house, Mrs. D and her students showcased their clay making skills. Every class explored working with clay; from forming, molding, and painting they were able to try their hand at using this medium. Check out some of the talented artists at Bennett!

This week 2nd graders had the chance to try their hand at a Lego Spike build and code challenge. After reviewing with Mrs. Brubaker how to use and take care of their Lego kits, students worked in groups in class to build and code their builds to move. Check out a few pictures of Mrs. Vera's class!

A local coffee shop (Ugly Mug Coffee) asked our Bears to create their coffee sleeves for St. Patrick's Day! ☘️ We are thankful to our community and Ms. Daubenspeck for providing opportunities like this for our Bears!! Also... stop by for a cup of coffee!

Today, the Bennett Bears' Learning Commons hosted author/illustrator Jonathan Miller. Mr Miller shared his original art with us, talked about the process of making his books, and read one of his stories. We even got a sneak peek at his next book coming out in October. He'll be back for a short visit tomorrow afternoon to autograph these last chance orders!

On Monday March 9 our McKinney Mavericks competed at their Basketball Tournament! Students received Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals! Great job Bears, we are so proud of you!!! #proudtobeaBEAR

MISD Distinguished Art Show was held this evening at the CEC. Our Bennett Bears showcased some of their art this evening! Thank you Ms. Daubenspeck for supporting our artists!

Thank you to our Bennett PTO! They hosted a silent auction in February and students won scooter races with the Principal and "Principal for a day" as prizes! We had some fun the last few days!! #proudtobeaBEAR

The BBLC has been the place to be! 2nd grade visited to learn about our Lego kits and practice coding. 5th grade is enjoying our wrapped books- I am loving the discussion of what to choose and how to choose. There are just a few left!

Today began the BBLC's inaugural wrapped book event! Students in grades 4th & 5th can explore wrapped books, read a short summary, and look for some key themes. If they choose a book, they make a commitment to read it all the way through and fill out a short review! We can't wait to discover some "new" favorites! #dontjudgeabookbyitscover

4th grade is coding the Chisholm Trail and hitting roadblocks like tornadoes, stampedes, and drought! Will the get their cattle through the drive?

Winter Olympics in PE! (Torch relay, Speed Skating, Curling, Bobsled, Skeleton, and Skiing) The students had so much fun!

Recently 4th grade got their hands on some robots! To expand their recent lessons, students were able to bring Dash Robots and the ozobots into the classroom to complete projects. Students used the ozobots to connect to their Earth & Space unit researching and learning about Katherine Johnson and how she used her incredible math skills to help launch a rocket to the moon. #STEAM #MISDSTEAM @McKinneyISD
