Tuesday night, September 30, the Bennett campus set up a STEAM experience for their families before the September PTO meeting. Community partners were able to showcase STEAM opportunities to students in grades K-5. Snapology, STEMtree, and Mathnasium were among local businesses showcasing their offerings. The McKinney Public Library highlighted STEAM activities and gave away books to families. Students were able to get hands on with many of the activities. Students were able to test out coding and lego builds, creating circuits with unique materials, and get creative with color sheets. Students were also able to make a Kazoo out of donated cardboard tubes, plastic wrap, and foil. The MGTA was also there to provide information to parents about the McKinney Gifted program. Students had so much fun testing materials and exploring all our community partners had to offer.
After the STEAM event, the PTO finished the evening with a presentation from the board. Updates were provided about the fundraiser, the operating budget of the PTO, and upcoming events. Make sure to check out their website for the next event!
