Learning Commons
What is a Learning Commons?
The library has been renamed! No longer limited to just books and typical school hours, it seems more fitting to call it a “learning commons.” This 21st Century title is more appropriate since many of our resources are accessible 24/7, including research guides, project handouts, classroom tools, and e-books. During school, groups of students use our space to gather while uncovering and discussing their learning with peers. Others are welcome to visit and check out books as their schedule allows.
Check out our Learning Commons Webpage for helpful resources and learning links.

Kim Bailey, Library Media Specialist
I am thrilled to serve the students, parents, and teachers at McNeil Elementary as the Library Media Specialist! I began my teaching career in Pre-K and later transitioned to a specialized classroom for Kindergarten and 1st-grade students learning foundational school behaviors. From there, I moved into a general education Kindergarten classroom, where I eventually became the team lead for the grade level.
I’m excited to bring my experience working with young learners into the Learning Commons at McNeil. My goal is to design a welcoming, engaging environment that encourages curiosity and promotes high-level thinking for all students.
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Texas A&M University–Commerce, a Master's in Administration and Curriculum & Instruction, and a Library Certification. I look forward to an amazing year of learning, collaboration, and growth together!
