MHS - My student needs to request a Verification of Enrollment (VOE) TO OBTAIN A DRIVER LICENSE OR DRIVING PERMIT. What is the procedure?
VOE Eligibility
The school considers the student currently enrolled at the time the student applies for the VOE, and
The school awarded the student credit for each class the semester prior to application for the VOE.
How to request a VOE
McKinney High School – VOE Request
(Verification of Enrollment for Texas Driver License or Learner’s Permit)
This form is for McKinney High School students only. Students from other MISD campuses must contact their home campus.
VOEs will NOT be issued while a student or parent is on the way to the DMV or already at the DMV.

Processing Time
VOEs require 24 school business hours to process.
VOEs will NOT be issued while a student or parent is on the way to the DMV or already at the DMV.
Eligibility Requirements
A VOE cannot be issued if the student owes attendance hours or has attendance less than 90% at the time of request.
Newly enrolled students must attend MHS for 10 school days before requesting a VOE.
Pick Up Instructions
VOEs will NOT be issued while a student or parent is on the way to the DMV or already at the DMV.
Pick-Up Location: Attendance Office (Library)
Pick-Up Hours: 7:20 AM – 3:00 PM on regular school days
VOEs cannot be emailed or faxed because they are legal documents.
VOE Validity
VOEs will NOT be issued while a student or parent is on the way to the DMV or already at the DMV.
School Year VOEs: Valid for 30 days
Summer VOEs: May be requested during the last 5 days of school and are valid until the first day of the next school year
Important DMV Reminder
Parent/Guardian must sign the VOE in front of the DMV clerk.
VOEs will NOT be issued while a student or parent is on the way to the DMV or already at the DMV.
Do NOT sign the form ahead of time, or the DMV may reject it.
Steps to Request a VOE
1. Student completes this form using their full legal name (as in HAC) and Student ID number.
2. Attendance Office verifies eligibility
3. VOE is printed and signed by Attendance staff
4. Student picks up the VOE at the Attendance Office
5. VOEs will NOT be issued while a student or parent is on the way to the DMV or already at the DMV.
