MHS Attendance Information

MHS Attendance Policy

At McKinney High School, we are committed to providing the best possible education for your child. Regular attendance is crucial to academic success, and every absence—whether partial or full-day—results in lost instructional time.

How Attendance Notifications Work:
Parents and guardians will be informed of student absences through the following:

  • MISD Home Access Center: View attendance records in real time. Please visit https://portal.mckinneyisd.net. If you need access to your parent account, please visit https://www.mckinneyisd.net/o/mhs/page/portal for assistance.

  • Automated Notifications: Daily phone calls, emails, and text messages regarding absences and tardies.

  • Attendance Warning Letters: Sent after 3, 7, and 10 unexcused absences.

  • Possible Loss of Credit Notices: House Offices will notify parents and students of possible loss of credit after the 7th absence. Parent Notes, Doctors Notes, and unexcused absences will count towards 90% Attendance.

  • Loss of Credit Letters: Issued after the 10th absence in a semester.

We encourage you to monitor your student’s attendance daily. If you notice discrepancies or have concerns, please contact the MHS attendance at MHSAttendance@mckinneyisd.net immediately. All notes can be submitted to the Attendance Office in the Library. Unexcused absences may result in consequences, including a referral to Truancy Court and loss of course credit.
