Career and Technology Education (CTE)

The CATE department offers a wide range of career focused courses giving students the opportunity to explore career interests and learn skills that they will put to use when they enter the work force.  Options in the program range from construction and law to early childhood education and graphic design.

English Language Arts and Reading (ELAR)

The ELAR department offers courses to prepare students for professions such as advertising copywriter, business administrator, editor, film, columnist, lawyer, teacher, and industry/business writer. Courses focus on developing student skills by exposing them to analytical, expository, and persuasive writing, academic and professional communication, and critical reading.

Languages Other Than English (LOTE)

The LOTE department offers courses to prepare students for professions such as airline personnel, armed forces, foreign office/service, communications, import/export, interpreter, sales industry, international banking, missionary, teacher, and tour Guide. Courses focus developing fluency in languages such as American Sign Language, French, Spanish, German, and Latin.

Mathematics

The Mathematics department offers courses to prepare students for professions such as accounting, actuary, architect, banker, data processor, engineer, financial analyst, researcher, systems analyst, teacher, and investor. The range of courses include applied mathematics, calculus, computer science, and statistics.

Science

The Science department offers courses to prepare students for professions such as biologist, medical professional, mining, game management, lab technician, chemist, microbiologist, physicist, forestry, researcher, teacher, pharmacist, forensics, and meteorologist. The range of courses include biology, chemistry, physics, astronomy, and environmental sciences.

Social Studies

The Social Studies department offers courses to prepare students for professions such as anthropologist, armed forces, foreign service, historian, writer, psychologist, sociologist, archaeologist, teacher, politician/political analyst, and welfare programs. The range of courses include world geography, world history, US history, and economics.

The SPED department offers support for students with learning disabilities. The program serves a wide spectrum of students. Services provided range from basic support with study skills and organization to skills needed to live independently.
