Our Program

Student Support
Finch Elementary has many programs designed to meet the needs of a variety of learners.  Programs designed to assist students who need extra support, acceleration or enrichment are included.  Some of these programs are as follows:

  • ESL Services– Finch provides students with English as a Second Language (ESL) services.

  • Special Education – We provide a full range of special services for students with identified learning disabilities including resource, content mastery and inclusion.  We also house one centralized Structured Teach Class. Special education students are integrated into the general education population with the necessary support to ensure their success.

  • Alpha – Alpha is McKinney I.S.D.’s program for identified gifted and talented students.  Parents, teachers, or the student themselves may nominate students for the Alpha program.   Finch Alpha students attend classes at Walker Elementary  for two days per week in grades 4-5 and one day per week in grade 3.  Alpha students in grades K-2 are served on the campus.

Student Involvement
Extracurricular activities allow students to become involved in specific areas of interest and allow them to apply what they are learning. Student involvement in these programs helps develop well-rounded students while building self-esteem and self-discipline. They will carry these skills with them long after graduation as they transition into higher education and career pursuits. Exciting programs and activities at Finch Elementary:
