About Finch
Welcome to Finch!
Finch Elementary is a neighborhood elementary school that is located within walking distance of historic downtown McKinney. We are a Title 1, bilingual campus serving 350 students in grades kindergarten through fifth grade. The campus was built in 1939 by the Works Progress Administration, so it is not unusual for students to have parents, or even grandparents, who attended Finch. Our motto, “The Finch Way: Every Child, Every Day”, reflects the commitment of the Finch staff to create an environment that advances meaningful learning for every child, every day. Daily innovative and engaging instruction is designed to prepare Finch students to be positive leaders and contributing members of society.
At Finch, we are committed to fostering a school culture that encourages students, teachers, staff, parents and community members to work collaboratively to promote the learning and achievement. If you need information or assistance, please give our office staff a call at 469-302-5600.

Technology
Designated as an historic landmark, Finch has character and charm including a cathedral shaped library and original wooden floors in the front hallway. Our technology rich environment, including top of the line interactive panels, MacBooks for every student in 2nd through 5th grade and class sets of iPads for Kinder and 1st grade; blends seamlessly with those historic features to connect the legacy of the past to the future. Our goal is to equip our students to be positive leaders and contributing members of 21st Century society though meaningful and engaging learning experiences designed to help students be better problem solvers, communicators, collaborators and producers with technology. Daily access to technology infrastructure and interactive learning opportunities are both key initiatives within Finch Elementary. We are committed to providing opportunities for students to interact with the global community through use of technology tools such as online research and social media.
Elementary Education in MISD
Building a strong academic and social foundation is paramount at the elementary level. For this reason, McKinney ISD teachers and staff are committed to teaching the “whole child” in our elementary schools. The elementary curriculum is consistent from campus to campus, ensuring a high quality education regardless of the school, yet allowing teachers the latitude to develop innovative strategies that are tailored to the individual child.
