MNHS NorthStars Drill Team and Dance Department

Program Information

The McKinney North High School Varsity and JV NorthStars Drill Teams are audition-based programs that serve the school and community primarily as spirit organizations. They promote school spirit at McKinney North events, perform and volunteer for several community functions, and partake in dance competitions and shows!

The McKinney North Dance Classes are offered as electives to fulfill Fine Arts or P.E. credits. Students will learn a variety of dance genres throughout the school year and perform in the MNHS Dance Department's annual Winter and Spring Shows!

Director Information

Abby Penprase-Tucker

Mrs. Tucker has served as the Head Director of the Varsity and JV NorthStars and MNHS Dance Instructor since 2023. She has a BA in Integrative Studies from the University of North Texas and is a long-time resident and graduate of McKinney ISD. Her dance background includes competitive studio dance, high school drill team, the Kilgore College Rangerettes, and the Dallas Stars Ice Girls. Mrs. Tucker strives to help students meet their full potential inside and outside of the dance room.

Audition Information

Drill Team Auditions for the 2026-2027 school year are closed. Information for the 2027-2028 auditions will be available in January, 2027!

Auditions are open to eligible students from 8th-11th grades.

Students who are interested in auditioning may take a Dance Class in order to better prepare for auditions.

Booster Club Information

The NorthStars Booster Club's primary purpose is to support the MNHS NorthStars programs and the drill team students.
