Mrs. Machost became the principal of Dowell Middle School in November of 2020. Previously, she served as assistant principal at Cockrill Middle School. Prior to that, she was the 504, ESL and RtI coordinator at Cockrill for eight years. She began her career in education as a math teacher in Garland ISD in 2004 and came to MISD in 2006, serving first at Dowell Middle School and then Cockrill. Before her launch into education, Machost spent five years as an event coordinator and division manager for March of Dimes in Dallas.
Mrs. Machost earned her bachelor’s degree in management from Stephen F. Austin University and her master’s degree in educational leadership from Lamar University. She is the proud mother of two great kids that attended MISD schools. Her son is at the University of Arkansas studying engineering, and her daughter attends the University of Oklahoma where she is working towards a secondary teaching degree. She has been happily married for over 24 years, and have been McKinney residents their entire marriage.
Middle school is a unique time in a child’s education. Our goal at Dowell Middle School is to help students learn the skills both academically and socially to prepare them for the next chapter. While we know middle school has its challenges, we want all students to have a safe and positive experience.
