Al Conley is a dedicated educator with over 25 years of experience in Texas public education. Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Al earned his teaching credentials at Ohio Wesleyan University before relocating to Texas to begin his professional journey. While he initially expected his stay to be brief, he has proudly called the Lone Star State home for more than two decades. He later advanced his expertise by earning a Master of Education Leadership from the University of North Texas.
Throughout his tenure in McKinney ISD, Al has served in several key leadership capacities, including Assistant Principal at Malvern Elementary and both Assistant Principal and Principal at Minshew Elementary. Since 2017, he has served as the Principal of Burks Elementary, where he continues to lead with a focus on student growth and community engagement.
McKinney ISD is more than just a professional home for Al; it is central to his family’s life. As a father of three daughters who all attended MISD schools, he has seen firsthand the transformative power of the district’s educational programs. This personal connection fuels his core belief that education is the ultimate door to opportunity for every child.
Al is committed to fostering an inclusive school culture that celebrates the diverse backgrounds of all students, ensuring they are prepared for the bright futures ahead of them. He is passionate about collaborating with staff, parents, and community partners to ensure every student is prepared to meet evolving educational standards and excel in their future endeavors.
