We hold our athletes accountable for everything they do on and off the field emphasizing high performing grades, social maturity and respectful behavior both during and outside of soccer season.

With over 40 years of experience on the pitch and the sidelines, Coach Solstad is a student of the game with a sharp eye for tactical nuances. He brings a disciplined, possession-based philosophy to McKinney High School. After a successful high school playing career in Oklahoma, Coach Solstad attended the University of Saint Mary, Leavenworth, Kansas on a soccer scholarship. before transferring to Oklahoma State University to finish his teaching degree.

Coach Solstad transitioned to coaching high school in 2011 taking his first head coaching position at Dove Science Academy in OKC, OK. After taking Dove to its first playoff appearance in team history, he moved to Texas in 2015. Successful stints at Princeton and Lake High School as an Assistant Coach, led Solstad to an opportunity to take over the boys program at Ranchview High School in Carrolton, TX. Coach Solstad's coaching style is defined by discipline and tactical growth, evidenced by his 45-21-7 record over three years at Ranchview, including 1 district championship, 1 Bi-District Championship and 3 playoff appearances.

Known for a high-energy personality and enthusiastic passion for the game, Solstad believes that the best players are those who are encouraged to take risks and learn from their mistakes. When not on the training ground, He can be found hanging with his wife, Shanna and their two golden doodles, Zoey and Bella, or watching his beloved Manchester United.
