Rank One Eligibility
All Rank One paperwork must be completed before a player is allowed to participate in tryouts. There are no exceptions to this requirement. If Rank One has not been completed, your son will not be permitted to try out.
2026-2027 Basketball Season Tryout Dates:
Tryouts will be held on the following dates:
Friday, August 14
Monday, August 17
Tuesday, August 18
Wednesday, August 19
These are the only scheduled tryout dates. Missed tryouts will not be made up, so it is extremely important that all Rank One paperwork is completed prior to the first day of school, so your son is eligible to participate.
Please also understand that if a player is not selected during tryouts, he will not be able to try out again until next season.
Tryout Process
Our coaching staff understands that tryouts and cuts are one of the most difficult parts of coaching. We know these decisions impact not only the players, but also their families. Please know that making cuts is something we never enjoy.
All evaluations and roster decisions will be made solely by the McKinney North Boys Basketball coaching staff. Opinions from outside basketball trainers, AAU coaches, or other individuals will not be considered during the evaluation process. We want every player to understand that each season is a new opportunity. Making the team last year does not guarantee a spot this year, just as not making the team last year does not mean a player cannot earn a spot this year. Athletes begin the tryout process with a clean slate and will be evaluated based on their performance, effort, attitude, coachability, and ability to contribute to the team during this year's tryouts.
While all roster decisions are final, we are committed to being transparent. If a player would like to understand why he was not selected, we encourage him to speak with one of our coaches. We will gladly explain the areas in which he can improve for future opportunities. Parents are also welcome to contact me if they have questions or would like additional information, but please understand that phone calls or emails will not change roster decisions.
Rank One Instructions
Please pay close attention to the following:
Returning athletes will notice a new step in the RankOne process. A flow chart has been attached to help guide you through it.
There are three residency questions that everyone must answer as part of the required paperwork. Depending on your family's situation, you may answer one, two, or all three questions.
One question asks whether your son attended a "true feeder" school. For this question, use the following definition:
Was your son enrolled at his current address on the first day of the second semester of his 8th-grade year?
If yes, simply answer the question and continue.
If no because you have recently moved, the system may initiate a PAPF.
If the system initiates a PAPF for any reason, please stop immediately and contact me before completing it.
When it is time to submit Proof of Residency, please make sure your documents meet the district requirements.
Accepted documents include:
Electric bill
Water bill
Rental agreement
Please upload the PDF version of the document. Photos or screenshots taken from a phone or computer cannot be accepted and will be rejected.
If you have any questions during the Rank One process or about basketball tryouts, please don't hesitate to reach out.
