What is MBHS Wrestling about?

Program Vision: To establish a system of teaching with a coordinated effort to teach Character through wrestling daily, so each student-athlete will grow as a person as well as a wrestler.

Program Mission: The McKinney Boyd High School Wrestling Program is dedicated to providing student-athletes with the foundation to excel in life, the classroom and on the mat. The Foundation is built on the Five Pillars of Bronco Wrestling.

Coaching Philosophy: to value every student, and student-athlete everyday and to add value to their lives daily.

Five Pillars of Bronco Wrestling

ACADEMICS: Student-Athletes will understand the importance of giving their best EFFORT daily to achieve their best in the classroom.

ACCOUNTABILITY: Athletes are obligated to accept the responsibility of having great CHARACTER and obligated to accept being a great TEAMMATE.

ATTITUDE: Athletes should focus on POSITIVE PRODUCTIVE ATTITUDES daily in practice and competition. Each day show up with a purpose to IMPROVE.

POSITIONING: Maintaining appropriate positioning is the most important aspect of becoming a better wrestler. WIN THE POSITION FIRST AND THEN SCORE!

TECHNIQUE: Basic fundamentals are key to becoming successful. Techniques will focus on breaking our opponents position and improving ours. Techniques will be taught, drilled, spared and wrestled in live situations to become comfortable and successful.
