Class of 2019
Bob Morton and Kat Williamson were selected as Modern Era inductees, joined by Senior Era selections Tammy Walker-Brown and Leonard Harris, Coach inductee Sam Serio, Contributor inductee Mike Bruck, and McKinney Boyd’s 2008 girls soccer team as the Team inductee. The group is the fifth class to be selected by the Hall of Honor Selection Committee.
Morton was a standout football, powerlifting, and track and field member at McKinney High School from 1998 to 2002. Selected as a USA Today prep All-American and a participant in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, Morton played collegiately at Notre Dame, where he was a guard and center in 33 games, starting in 26.
Williamson is perhaps the most decorated female soccer player in MISD history. She was a member of state championship teams at both McKinney North and McKinney Boyd. Williamson continued her career at the University of Florida, where she was named SEC Defensive Player of the Year in 2010. She played professionally for Portland and Western New York of the NWSL before retiring in 2015.
Walker-Brown was a two-time all-state basketball player for MHS in the mid-1980s, played collegiately at Texas Tech, and is a successful high school coach. She was named TABC all-state as junior, leading the Lionettes to the 4A state tournament. Walker-Brown was a part of two teams at Texas Tech that qualified for the NCAA tournament. She is the winningest coach in the history of Beaumont Ozen, where her teams have won 11 consecutive district titles and advanced to the state tournament in 2011.
Harris was a multi-sport star at McKinney High School who played football collegiately at Texas Tech and professionally for the Denver Gold of the USFL and Houston Oilers and Atlanta Falcons of the NFL. In his second season with Denver he led the team in receiving with 101 catches for 1,432 yards and eight TDs. His older brother, Jamie, was inducted into the Hall of Honor in 2016.
Serio served as swim and dive coach for MHS for 33 years. Upon his retirement in June 2016, McKinney ISD named the district’s natatorium in his honor. A recipient of the Texas Swimming Coaches Association Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011, Serio guided his teams to nine district championships and four region championships. He was named district coach of the year 15 times and region coach of the year five times.
Bruck is the longtime voice of Ron Poe Stadium, serving as public address announcer for MISD football, as well as McKinney High School soccer, basketball, and softball. He has been a faculty member at MHS for 32 years and has been public address announcer at MISD varsity football games since 2001.
The 2008 McKinney Boyd girls soccer team became the third state champion from McKinney ISD in the sport. The Lady Broncos finished its 23-2-1 record with convincing 3-1 wins over Friendswood and Wichita Falls Rider.
