Wendy Dutton—MISD Human Resources Director of Recruitment and Retention

McKinney, TX — After 4 years as the coordinator of professional development for McKinney ISD, Wendy Dutton will join the MISD Human Resources Department to serve as the district’s new director for recruitment and retention. Dutton brings 22 years of experience in education to her new role in human resources.

The position became available when HR Director Shelly Spaulding was named principal of McKinney High School in March.

Dutton began her career in Garland ISD as an elementary teacher before joining the faculty of Evans Middle School where she served as a language arts and AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) teacher. Her passion for and talent as an AVID teacher eventually led Dutton to become an AVID staff developer, a position that took her across the country to facilitate professional learning for teachers during the summer. Dutton said that during that time she fell in love with professional learning.

“About four years ago, I was blessed to come back to MISD as the coordinator of professional development to share my passion for professional learning with the teachers here,” Dutton said.

Now, in her new role as HR Director, Dutton will continue to pour into teachers as she oversees the district’s First Year Teacher program and Mentor and Leadership programs and as she works with universities, student teachers, and teachers who are new to MISD.

“I am greatly honored to have the opportunity to lead as the director of HR recruitment & retention,” Dutton said. “I look forward to recruiting the best teachers for our district and enhancing employees’ experiences in my new role.”
