McKinney, Texas – McNeil Elementary Media Resource Specialist Tiffany Dudley has been named the top Librarian/Media Resource Specialist in Texas for 2020–2021 by the Texas Computer Education Association (TCEA).

TCEA is a 57,000 member association that works to support the use of technology in education, and each year, they recognize the best educators in the state in several categories.

“I am so incredibly honored to be named TCEA’s Librarian/Media Specialist of the year for 2021,” said Dudley. “Joining the MRS team in McKinney ISD has been an amazing experience full of challenge and adventure! While I have always loved working with teachers and students, I have truly found my passion here in McKinney ISD, and I appreciate the leadership, support and family atmosphere that makes this community such a great place to work and live! I enjoy each and every minute I get to spend serving the McNeil community.”

McKinney ISD’s media resource specialists play a vital role on MISD campuses, providing support for teachers and students that goes far beyond managing the library. Dudley provides resources to support instructional planning and helps teachers make the most of their classroom instructional technology in ways that enhance learning and enrich instruction. If issues arise with classroom technology, Dudley is there to help troubleshoot, and she is the point person at McNeil to assist virtual learners.

“When parents run into issues, we help to trouble shoot those and talk parents through it, Zoom with them live and try to see if we can figure out what’s going on,” said Dudley. “There are all kinds of things that students are trying to access throughout the day, from our digital textbook resources to learning resources that their teachers have provided for research, reading at home or assignments in Canvas and SeeSaw. I manage all the SeeSaw classes on our campus and help teachers build content in Canvas.” Dudley also provides professional development at McNeil to support all of those things.

In addition to being named the TCEA Texas Librarian/Media Resource Specialist of the Year, Dudley’s colleagues chose her earlier this spring as the McNeil Campus Teacher of the Year.

“Tiffany is an invaluable part of each team at McNeil,” said McNeil Principal Tracy Meador. “From Kinder to fifth grade, from the office team to the specials team—Tiffany’s vision is to provide steadfast support for teachers, staff and students. She has been an amazing leader and pioneer in the last year with virtual learning, and we could not have done it without her! She has a compassionate heart and a servant attitude.”
