McKinney, Texas – McKinney ISD has once again been named a “Best Place to Work” by the Dallas Business Journal, making 2018 the third consecutive year that the district has been recognized as a top employer by the magazine.

“I think the recognition speaks to what MISD is really about, that people really are our greatest asset,” said MISD Assistant Superintendent and Chief Human Resources Officer Tamira Griffin. “For three years in a row, our employees have said we’re a best place to work, and I think a lot of that is a reflection of the culture that Dr. McDaniel has worked to build in his time as superintendent—that culture of family. I hear that a lot, and I talk about that a lot. We talk about that with our new teachers when they come in. We feel a calling to be here—to do the kind of work that we get to do—and we’re fortunate to be able to do it in this type of environment.”

On Friday, June 15, MISD Superintendent Dr. Rick McDaniel (kneeling in front) welcomed Dallas Business Journal representatives and the Frisco RoughRiders’ “Bull Moose” mascot when they arrived at McKinney ISD Central Office to announce that the district had been chosen for the third straight year as one of the magazine’s Best Places to Work in D/FW.

Now in its 16th year, the Best Places to Work program showcases outstanding North Texas organizations in five classifications: micro (10-24 employees), small (25-49), medium (50-249), large (250-999) and extra-large (1,000+). In order to be considered, organizations must have a minimum of 10 employees and be located in Dallas, Collin, Tarrant, Rockwall, Ellis or Kaufman counties.

The results are based upon employee feedback collected through surveys by Quantum Workplace. In 2018, only 100 of the 500 nominated businesses made the final cut as one of the Dallas Business Journal Best Places to Work, and MISD was one of only seven Dallas-area businesses and organizations in the Extra-Large category to be chosen for recognition. The district will be honored with the other award-winners at the Dallas Business Journal’s “You’ve Hit a Home Run!” celebration on Thursday Oct. 18 at Dr. Pepper Ballpark in Frisco.

“The recognition is really based on employee input, so that’s very heartwarming for me,” Griffin said. “That means a lot.”

MISD Superintendent Dr. Rick McDaniel was pleased as well that the district had been chosen again for recognition.

“McKinney ISD has never considered itself to be a finished product,” he said. “We’re always in search of ways to improve, and we continue to bring strong personnel into the district—and keep the personnel that we already have. That in turn fosters a culture in which people feel proud to come to work. They feel appreciated, and they feel respected. Consequently, you end up with recognition such as this for the third straight year. I could not be more proud of our district.”
