McKinney ISD Superintendent Dr. Rick McDaniel provides an update on the plans for graduation as MISD considers the possibility of a more traditional ceremony.

Dear McKinney ISD Parents,

In light of the recent announcement from Governor Abbott relaxing certain restrictions in the coming weeks, McKinney ISD is considering the possibility of a more traditional graduation for our 2020 graduates.

Currently, the district has a plan in place for a drive-through graduation, but we are also developing a plan for a more traditional graduation ceremony. We are still awaiting information from state and local agencies to determine what will be permitted, and we will provide additional information as soon as it becomes available.

We know that you have many questions at this time, and we are asking for your patience as we receive feedback from these agencies and determine next steps. As always, the safety of our students and guests remains our first priority. Any change from our current plan will be determined if/when large gatherings, such as a graduation, are allowed. In the meantime, we have an excellent plan in place utilizing the drive-through ceremony. We will communicate potential changes in the ceremony as information becomes available in the coming weeks.

With high regards,

Dr. Rick McDaniel
McKinney ISD Superintendent

Dr. Rick McDaniel
Superintendente de McKinney ISD
