McKinney ISD high schools ranked high on the list of U.S. News and World Report's list of Best High Schools in the country.
Each year McKinney ISD names two teachers to represent the district in the Region 10 Teacher of the Year program as the MISD Elementary and Secondary Teachers of the Year. For 2020, they are Sandra Eiland from Slaughter Elementary and Rosalyn Govan from Cockrill Middle School.
Lawson Early Childhood School has been named the winner of the 2020 H-E-B Early Childhood School Excellence in Education Award, an honor bestowed upon only one early childhood school in Texas each year.
The 2019–2020 McKinney ISD School Nurse of the Year is Shannon Hershberger from McGowen Elementary. The annual award provides an opportunity to spotlight the outstanding work of our MISD school nurses.
McKinney ISD is the recipient of a TEA grant totaling just under $400,000 to be used for safety and security enhancements throughout the district.
The McKinney ISD Board of Trustees approved the 2020-2021 employee compensation plan at their regular meeting held April 28, 2020.
