Welcome to the 2018-19 school year. This newsletter serves as a resource for parents as they begin to prepare for the upcoming school year. Please remember that the first day of school for the 2018-19 school year is August 20, 2018.
If parents need additional assistance, beyond what is covered in this newsletter, please contact us at communications@mckinneyisd.net or 469-302-4000.
Parents can enroll their new students to McKinney ISD as well as update their returning student’s information through the district’s online registration process or by visiting the school the student is zoned for.
Returning Students
Beginning this year McKinney ISD will use PowerSchool Registration to update information on students returning to our schools each year.
Parents and guardians receive a separate email for each individual student with online registration instructions and a unique “snapcode” that is needed to begin the online registration process for that student. If you are the parent or guardian of multiple students, you will not receive all of these snapcode emails at the same time.
Invitations to register for the 2018-19 school year will start to go out at the beginning of August to parents and guardians of students enrolled in MISD prior to June 7.
New Students
To register your child, that is new to MISD, for the 2018-19 school year parents will need to first create an account with InfoSnap. Parents will then be prompted to enter basic information regarding your child. Click here to start online registration for the 2018-19 school year.
After the online registration process is complete, parents of students new to the district must provide additional paperwork to the district. Parents can complete this step beginning in August by going to their student’s zoned campus.
For more information about enrollment in McKinney ISD please visit the Enrollment section of the MISD website.
A critical ingredient in the safe school recipe is the uniform classroom response to any incident. Weather events, fires, accidents, intruders and other threats to student safety are scenarios that are planned and trained for by all McKinney ISD schools and District Administration and staff. Historically, schools have taken this scenario-based approach to respond to hazards and threats. Each McKinney ISD classroom is furnished with the Standard Response Protocol poster that provides teachers with readily accessible response procedures and provides information during a crisis event. The attached handout explains Standard Response Protocol that is taught to students, faculty and staff.

MISD school supply lists are different depending on which campus your student will attend. Each campus maintains their own supply lists. MISD high schools do not maintain a campus wide supply list. High school students receive their school supply information during the first week of classes in August.
To obtain a copy of your campus’ supply lists please contact your campus’ front office.
Each MISD campus hosts at least one back to school night each Fall. Parents can contact their school’s front office for information about their campus’s back to school night.
By law, McKinney ISD must have an immunization record for each student on file. These records must be up-to-date at the time of registration. Students entering MISD for the first time must present written verification of the required immunizations at the time of enrollment.
For more information about what immunizations are required please visit the Immunizations page in the Health Services & Wellness section of the website.
MISD Childcare Programs offer a wide variety of child care options for children ranging in age from 6 weeks to 12 years. The programs include Club 360 After School, Holiday Care, Summer Camp, Mother’s Day Out at MHS, Infant and Toddler Care at Lawson and Preschool Programs at MHS, MNHS and MBHS.
For details about each of these programs, please visit the Childcare & After-School Programs section of the MISD website.
McKinney ISD maintains district Facebook, Twitter and YouTube pages. In addition to these district level social media pages, each campus also maintains both a Facebook and Twitter page. To find your campus’s social media page please visit your campus’s website, or contact your campus’s front office.
McKinney ISD teams with Durham School Services to transport students to school safe, on time, and ready to learn each day. Part of this service includes a online Bus Route Locator that parents can use to determine where and when our buses stop each day.
For more information about MISD’s bus services, please visit the Transportation section of the MISD website.
