In a letter to the community released Tuesday, March 24, McKinney ISD Superintendent Dr. Rick McDaniel shared the district's response to the McKinney Stay-at-Home Order.

McKinney ISD Family,

During a news conference this morning, Collin County Judge Chris Hill issued a Stay-at-Home Order that includes the City of McKinney.

The order advises businesses to take all necessary precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and goes into effect immediately today, March 24. The order will remain in place for at least the next seven days.

Campuses and district offices will remain closed, but in light of this court order, I am further limiting district activities to only the most essential operations as we attempt to do our part to curb the spread of COVID-19.

One of those essential operations that will continue is the Grab & Go meal service which will continue to follow the currently scheduled pick up times at Vega, Malvern, Webb, Finch, McNeil and Slaughter. I would like to commend the staff and volunteers who have helped make that happen over the past week.

While we comply with this stay-at-home order, home enrichment learning will continue this week, March 23-27, through the resources available on our MISD Enrichment@Home website, and the district has been in communication with families to get necessary technology into the hands of those who need it.

MISD will move forward with its implementation of at home digital learning that will begin Monday, March 30, and I would like to thank our MISD teachers and district and campus leadership who have been working tirelessly to ensure that learning will continue for all of our students when we begin the next phase of our response to these challenging times.

Finally, I would like to commend and thank our parents and students for your continued patience and support. I know that each family is facing its own, unique set of circumstances and challenges as we all face a situation that none of us have encountered before. I want you to know that we, as a district, are doing all we can to ensure that learning continues for our students.

But, even more importantly, our hope is that all of our students and every member of the MISD family stays safe and healthy throughout the remainder of this coronavirus pandemic.

Sincerely,

Dr. Rick McDaniel
McKinney ISD Superintendent

Sinceramente,

Dr. Rick McDaniel
Superintendente de McKinney ISD
