Student Teaching & Observing

McKinney ISD welcomes student teachers and observers during the fall and spring semesters. Requests for placement must be made by a university or certification program. Placement availability is limited, therefore, we ask that placement requests adhere to the deadline posted. Requests are taken on a first-come, first-serve basis until the semester limit is reached. Student Teaching

The deadline for requesting Fall 2021 student teaching assignments is April 9, 2021.
The deadline for requesting Spring 2022 student teaching assignments is November 5, 2021.

Placement Requirements

A written placement request from a university or certification program is required for student teaching in McKinney ISD. The request must indicate a description of the assignment, the student’s certification level, the student’s certification subject, and the assignment starting and ending dates or total hours required.

Process for Applying for Student Teaching

To apply to be a student teacher, complete a volunteer application using the online application system. After you begin the application process, select “Student Teacher” as the position reference.

Classroom and Clinical Observation

The deadline for requesting Spring 2021 observation hours is January 29, 2021.
The deadline for requesting Fall 2021 observation hours is September 17, 2021.
The deadline for requesting Spring 2022 observation hours is January 28, 2022.

The request must indicate a description of the assignment, the student’s certification level, the student’s certification subject and the assignment starting and ending dates or total hours required.

Process for Applying for Classroom and Clinical Observation

To apply for classroom or clinical observation placement, complete a volunteer application using the online application system. After you begin the application process, select “Observer” as the position preference.
