McKinney ISD

Substitute Opportunities

McKinney ISD processes substitute applications for the current school year through January of that year. Individuals interested in substituting for the following school year, may begin applying in July.

McKinney ISD strives to employ the most qualified applicants; therefore, applicants with a valid teaching certificate will be considered first for substitute teaching positions. In addition to substitute teachers, McKinney ISD utilizes substitutes for paraprofessional staff (clerical and classroom aides) as well as nurses which requires an RN licensure.

All substitute applications must be submitted through the online application system. In order for a substitute application file to be considered complete, the following must be on file:

  • Resume
  • Teaching certificate, if applicable
  • Proof of education (College transcript or High school diploma / GED)
  • Three references, including at least one from a current or most recent employer

Applicants selected as substitute candidates are required to be fingerprinted before attending a substitute orientation. The District provides fingerprinting services onsite at the Administration building, One Duvall Street, McKinney, TX 75069. When scheduling an appointment, select the McKinney ISD Duvall Street location. The fingerprinting cost is approximately $50, paid by the applicant.

All substitutes must be at least 21 years of age.
