Several high school musicians from MHS and MNHS were recently selected the Texas Music Educator Association’s (TMEA) All-State Band.

Several high school musicians from McKinney High School and McKinney North High School were recently selected the Texas Music Educator Association’s (TMEA) All-State Band. All of the students will travel to the TMEA convention to be held Feb. 15 through 18 in San Antonio.

McKinney North High School had three musicians selected to the All-State Band. Andrew Hayes was selected for the bass trombone and Trey Perkins was selected for the alto clarinet. Matt Stephens, a drummer at McKinney North, was selected to the All-State band for percussion. Stephens is the first drummer ever from any McKinney high school to be selected to the All-State Band in percussion.

Lisa Cox, a senior bass clarinet player from McKinney High School, placed first in her audition and earned a position on the All-State Band. Cox is only the fourth band student in McKinney High School history to be selected to the TMEA All-State Band.
