McKinney, Texas - With an eye toward the future, Glen Oaks Elementary put a new twist on Career Day recently by setting aside the traditional parade of guest presenters in favor of a more hands on approach. Rather than bring guests in, Glen Oaks sent their 5th graders out to the District’s high schools to get a first hand look at the wide range of Career and Technical Education (CTE) opportunities available to them in McKinney ISD—and the future careers to which they lead.

McKinney, Texas - Slaughter Elementary 2nd grade teacher Joli Barker will travel across the Atlantic this November to attend the Microsoft Partners in Learning Global Forum in Prague, Czech Republic. She is one of only 16 educators chosen to represent the United States at the international event.

Walker Elementary Staff Build Teamwork and Hope at Minnie's Food Pantry

McKinney, Texas - Hope is a rare commodity when you’re not sure where your child’s next meal is coming from, when you have to choose between buying groceries for your family or buying gas so you can get to work.
But, Minnie’s Food Pantry deals in hope. And, for 853 families last month, the charity located on West Parker Road in Plano meant that their kids didn’t go to bed hungry.
