Teen Academy Teaches MISD Students Leadership and Offers an Inside Look at McKinney PD

McKinney, Texas - While many of their peers are soaking up the leisurely days of summer, these kids are getting an inside look at all things law enforcement through the weeklong Teen Academy hosted by the McKinney Police Department. Some are there because they are considering law enforcement as a career. Others are just curious. They’re halfway through the week, and this morning, it’s all about the SWAT team.

MISD Names Woodard and Sanderson to District Administrative Positions

McKinney, Texas - McKinney ISD has chosen Suzy Woodard and Geoff Sanderson for two recently vacated high-level administrative positions. Woodard has been named Assistant Superintendent for Learner Support, and Sanderson will serve as Chief Program Evaluation Officer. The Board of Trustees approved both decisions on Tuesday night.

Dowell 7th Grader Honored by Duke TIP for Perfect SAT Math Score

McKinney, Texas - Dowell Middle School student Justin Chan was among 64 seventh graders from across the country who have been named 2015 William and Dorothy C. Bevan Scholars by the Duke University Talent Identification Program (Duke TIP) for earning a perfect score on one or more sections of the ACT or SAT.

Justin aced the math section of the SAT with a perfect score of 800.

On Friday, June 5, 2015 approximately 1,600 seniors from McKinney Boyd High School, McKinney High School and McKinney North High School concluded their high school careers when they crossed the stage at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano to become graduates of McKinney ISD.

McKinney High School Student to Study Arabic in Morocco on U.S. Department of State NSLI-Y Scholarship

McKinney, Texas - Thomas McGowan, a high school student in McKinney, Texas, has been awarded a National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) scholarship for 2015-16. Thomas will study Arabic in Morocco for the Summer. 

MEF Awards $432K to McKinney ISD Seniors

McKinney, Texas – The McKinney Education Foundation awarded $432,541 in scholarships to 280 McKinney ISD seniors on May 15. JP Morgan sponsored the awards ceremony that marked a new record in scholarships awarded by MEF.

New Principals Named for MHS, Caldwell Elementary

McKinney, Texas - Gordon Butler has been named the new principal of McKinney High School and Kelly Flowers has been chosen as the new principal of Caldwell Elementary. The McKinney ISD Board of Trustees approved the decision at their monthly meeting held Tuesday night at McKinney High School.

North Takes Title in 2nd Annual Battle of the Blues Physics Olympics

McKinney, Texas - After an epic battle of wits, creativity and engineering acumen known as the 2015 McKinney ISD “Battle of the Blues” Physics Olympics, McKinney North High School wrested the victor’s trophy away from defending champs McKinney Boyd High School in the second annual competition held at McKinney High School on Friday, May 15.

Board Approves Dr. Melinda DeFelice as MISD Assistant Superintendent for Student Services

McKinney, Texas - Dr. Melinda DeFelice has been chosen as the new Assistant Superintendent for Student Services for McKinney ISD. The Board of Trustees approved the decision at their regular monthly work study meeting on Tuesday, May 19.
