STEM is for Girls: Grant Funds Sci-Tech Girl Power After-School Program

They come in most days after school, these 20 or so Bennett Elementary 4th and 5th grade girls. On some days, they have other commitments like Girl Scouts or Bluebonnet Book Club, but they are eager to be here when they can.

MHS Teacher Alyssa Boehringer is the JEA National Broadcast Advisor of the Year

It was a monumental surprise that arrived just in time for the holidays. As Alyssa Boehringer took her seat for the McKinney High School holiday staff luncheon on the afternoon of Dec. 15, a caravan of current and former students, family members and a representative from the Journalism Education Association (JEA) emerged from a back hallway and politely interrupted the proceedings with an announcement: Boehringer had been chosen as the JEA National Broadcast Advisor of the Year. The award is designed to honor outstanding high school advisers and their exemplary work from the previous year, as well as throughout their careers.
