Objective: The student will identify acceptable uses of technology resources.

Materials: Brainstorming medium: projected word processor, projected

INSPIRATION software, chalkboard, marker board, or overhead

Overview:

The teacher will facilitate a brainstorming session beginning

with information from the first slide, “USING TECHNOLOGY.” This

would be an appropriate community circle activity.

Procedure:

1. Students brainstorm what “LEARNING PURPOSES” would include. Guide the

discussion with the question, “How can computers help us learn?” Be sure to

record responses in a web or a list.

2. Teachers may use the provided “LEARNING PURPOSES” web (slide #2)

to compare to the students’ ideas, or may use it only as a teaching guide and

lead the discussion to cover all topics.

3. Follow steps #1-2 for the topics “WHAT IS PRIVATE?” and “USER

RESPONSIBILITIES.”

4. Discuss any classroom computer expectations.

Closure:

With only the “USING TECHNOLOGY” slide visible, have each student share one

idea that falls under one category.
