Superintendent Search

At the 2009-2010 McKinney ISD Back to School Convocation, Superintendent of Schools Tom Crowe announced his intent to retire this December. Mr. Crowe dedicated over 38 years to public education. The McKinney ISD Board of Trustees selected School Executive Consulting, Inc. to perform an exhaustive search for the most highly qualified candidate to take over as superintendent. Dr. Mike Moses, former Dallas ISD Superintendent and former Texas Education Commissioner, and education attorney David Thompson are principals for the firm and will head the search.

August 25 - October 10, 2009

Contact and recruit outstanding professionals for nominations and applications for the position of superintendent of schools for the McKinney Independent School District.

August 31, 2009

• Contact school leaders across the United States inviting nominations of outstanding candidates.
• Mail letters of invitations to outstanding individuals known to have the prerequisite skills for the superintendency in the McKinney Independent School District.

September 1 – October 23, 2009

Continue recruitment activities.

September 16, 2009

• Community focus groups
• Report feedback and profile to Board of Trustees
• Continue obtaining feedback through online survey and communication from community to search firm.

October 23, 2009
Application deadline.

November 2-7, 2009

First round of interviews.

November 9-14, 2009

Second round of interviews.

November 17-20, 2009

Identification of finalist(s) for position of superintendent of schools.

December 7-11, 2009

Approve employment contract for successful candidate as superintendent of schools.

January 1, 2010

New superintendent assumes position.
