New Substitute Orientation

Please complete the steps below only after receiving official notification from the Human Resources Department to begin the new substitute orientation process.

Step 1: New Substitute Orientation Online Presentation

All new substitutes are required to complete the new substitute orientation within 7 days of official notification.

Step 2: Maltreatment of Children Reporting

All school personnel are required to be trained on child maltreatment and reporting procedures – McKinney ISD Board Policy DMA (LEGAL).

Complete the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services’ Reporting Suspected Abuse or Neglect of a Child Training at

Print the Certificate of Completion and submit it at the in-house orientation.

Step 3: New Substitute Orientation Survey

Please complete the New Substitute Orientation Survey before moving on to Step 4. The survey consists of 5 questions. Your comments and suggestions are appreciated.

Step 4: Contact a Substitute Coordinator to schedule your New Substitute In-house Orientation.


Step 5: Required Documentation

Please print the new substitute documents below. Email completed forms to or bring to the in-house orientation on your scheduled date. In-house orientations are held at the McKinney ISD Administration building located at #1 Duvall Street, McKinney, Texas 75069.

Step 6: New Substitute In-house Orientation

What to bring:

  • Identification documents – Required to complete Form I-9 (See Form I-9 for list of acceptable documents.)
  • Completed new substitute forms, if not previously emailed to (See Step 5 above for details.)
  • Official college transcript (copy of high school diploma or official high school transcript, if non-degreed)
  • Maltreatment of Children Reporting Certificate of Completion
