Transfer Guidelines For Children of MISD Employees
McKinney ISD is
committed to providing to employees added benefits that may
increase the appeal of working for our district. Below are
the updated guidelines regarding the attendance of students
of staff: If after reading these up-dated guidelines you
still have questions please contact the MISD Assistant
Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction at 469-742-4041.
-
Employee
transfer requests will be accepted between May 1 and June
30 of each year. The district will review requests from
employees who join the district after June 30 on an
individual basis.
-
After transfer
has been granted, student will not be returned to zoned
campus during that school year.
-
All secondary
transfers, (9-12), are subject to review by the University
Interscholastic League,
even though the transfer request may be granted, it is the
responsibility of the “party” seeking the transfer to
insure that any and all possible UIL Ramifications
are addressed. Questions regarding the impact of
transfers on UIL-governed activities can be directed to
the MISD Athletic Director.
-
A written
application must be provided to the Assistant
Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, and approval
must be granted prior to registration. The application,
which has been up-dated for the 2008-2009 school year, can
be obtained by clicking on the link above or through the
office of Curriculum and Instruction.
-
Children
(Pre-K – 12) of MISD employees are eligible to attend any
regular McKinney ISD school, regardless of residence of
the MISD employee. Employees must be full-time MISD
employees or work 20 or more hours per week (classified
as, at least, a half-time employee). Substitutes are not
eligible.
-
If employment
ends for an employee living within MISD with a student
attending school outside of his/her attendance zone, the
student may be eligible to stay at the campus until the
end of the school year if space is available.
-
The children of
MISD employees living outside MISD boundaries are also
eligible to attend any McKinney ISD school based on
enrollment numbers. The employee must directly receive
his/her paycheck from McKinney ISD.
Children of
contracted services employees will not be eligible.
-
Professional
MISD certified staff are exempt from paying
out-of-district tuition for their children.
All other MISD
staff members will be required to pay half of the regular
tuition
until two full
years of employment have been completed.
-
If
employment with MISD ends for an employee living outside
MISD, the child of the former employee may continue
attending school within MISD at a school with space
available until the end of that school year only, as long
as the former employee pays full tuition and there is no
interruption in attendance. The tuition costs will be
pro-rated based on the employee's last day of work for
MISD.
-
Once a student
starts high school, he or she will be encouraged to
graduate from that high school, unless employment of
his/her parent with the district ends and/or the employee
moves outside of MISD.
-
All transfers
are based on availability of space and are considered on
an annual basis.
-
MISD will not
provide bus transportation for transfer students.
-
As stated in the
MISD Student Code of Conduct, student transfers may be
revoked for lack of academic progress, attendance, tardies
and/or misconduct.
