Dear MISD Patrons:
Beginning on November 12 and then extending over the next several months, we will embark on a very exciting journey for the McKinney Independent School District. We will initiate the process of developing a Strategic Plan for MISD that will impact not only the next five years, but will carry the district forward into the foreseeable future.
Beginning on November 12, a team of 30 community members will meet for three days to develop the beliefs, mission and strategies for the future of MISD. These 30 people include individuals from administration, the clergy, the City of McKinney, students, teachers and business owners. These individuals do not represent any particular group, but rather reflect a microcosm of our community. They have been selected because of their ability to set aside their personal “agendas” and focus on pertinent issues affecting the future of the children in McKinney ISD.
After the Planning Committee members have developed the strategic intent for MISD, the Action Planning Teams will be charged with designing the Action Plans that will make the strategic vision a reality. You have the opportunity to serve on one of these important Action Teams if you are interested. You can search on this web site and locate “Building a Strategic Plan” for more information and how you can volunteer to serve on an Action Planning Team.
The Action Plans will be returned to the Planning Committee who can accept, modify, or reject the action plans which have been developed. Once the Planning Committee has reached agreement on the proposed Action Plans which have been submitted, the Strategic Plan is then presented to the MISD Board of Trustees for final consideration and approval.
The entire process will take everyone approximately 6 months to complete, and I firmly believe this is the most important work we will do in setting our course for the future. Our students deserve nothing but the best and I believe with all my heart that this community can assist in designing a system that will give them every opportunity to be successful now and while ensuring extraordinary opportunities for the future.
