After all of the hard work that has been expended in developing and beginning to implement the McKinney ISD Five Year Strategic Plan, some are wondering about the status of that plan based upon the fact that I am retiring at the end of this calendar year. The short answer to that question is that the plan will continue to drive MISD into the future even after I have retired.
In order to understand my confidence in that statement, please consider the following:
This is NOT Tom Crowe’s plan. Our Five Year Strategic Plan is the plan that the community of McKinney has developed and approved for the future of our children. There were parents, community members, business leaders, school board members, city staff and MISD staff members on the Strategic Planning Committee. This plan is not going away.
Now, a new superintendent will most likely have his/her own style for working with the plan and working with the personnel who are championing each Action Plan, but the Strategic Plan will still be the driving force for McKinney ISD. At the end of each year, the original committee will meet and add an additional year onto the plan. In this way, the plan continues to be a living document that reflects the needs and desires of our community.
I wish each of you the very best. It has been and continues to be an honor to serve this community over the past 5 years. I have had a very blessed career and I can think of no better place to end that career than in McKinney, Texas.
With Deep Respect and Sincere Appreciation,
Tom Crowe
