
Dr. Kennedy began serving as the McKinney ISD Superintendent of Schools in January of 2010. Prior to McKinney ISD, Dr. Kennedy spent almost seven years as the Superintendent of Schools in Midlothian ISD and is currently in his 37th year as an educator.
Dr. Kennedy has also served as Superintendent of Schools in Decatur ISD, north of Fort Worth. In addition, he has served as Assistant Superintendent of Schools at Waco-Midway ISD, a principal and assistant principal at Allen ISD, a teacher and counselor at Richardson ISD, and a teacher and coordinator in North East ISD (San Antonio) and Southwest ISD.
Dr. Kennedy received his Doctorate in Education Administration from Texas A&M University at Commerce, a Master of Arts in Counseling from the University of Texas at San Antonio, and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science/Secondary Education from Baylor University. He has worked as an educational consultant in Haiti and Kosovo, and as an adjunct professor at the University of North Texas. Dr. Kennedy currently serves as one of four Texas Representatives for the American Association of School Administrators. He also serves on the TASA School Board of the Year Selection Committee. Finally he is the Region 10 Education Service Center Representative to the TEA Commissioner’s Superintendent Cabinet.
His wife, Pam, is a retired school counselor and they have two sons, one of which is marketing coordinator for Independent Bank here in McKinney and the other is a Field Development Coordinator for a religious denomination organization and lives in Fort Worth. They are proud grandparents of two beautiful granddaughters, plus he, his wife and all of his children are Baylor alumni.
