Texas Academic Performance
Report (TAPR)

Due to changes in legislation, the performance report formerly known as the Academic Excellence Indicator System (AEIS) report is now the Texas Academic Performance Report (TAPR). AEIS was published from 1990-91 to 2011-12. Archived AEIS reports may be found on the AEIS Archives page through TEA.

State education commissioner waives grade 5 and 8 student retesting and retention requirements; cancels June STAAR testing as well.

Commissioner Morath announced on Friday, June 10, 2016, that he is suspending Student Success Initiative (SSI) Requirements which require students in grades 5 and 8 to pass STAAR mathematics and reading to be eligible for promotion to the next grade level. As a result, students who did not perform satisfactorily on the March 2016 or May 2016 STAAR mathematics and/or reading tests will not be retested in June.

Districts are expected to use local discretion to determine whether accelerated instruction should be offered in the applicable subject area for students who did not pass the mathematics and/or reading assessments in March and/or May. McKinney ISD is committed to supporting all students and we will continue to provide opportunities for student learning for 5th and 8th graders that will focus on SSI intervention in mathematics and reading and will incorporate learning through specials areas. Students previously invited to attend summer school for this instruction are encouraged to continue for the duration of the summer term.

Organization Performance Rating Report

Under House Bill 5 (passed last year by the 83rd Texas Legislature), all districts are required to evaluate the district’s performance and the performance of each campus in regard to community and student engagement. Districts must assign one of four performance ratings – Exemplary, Recognized, Acceptable or Unacceptable – to the district and each campus for overall performance, including the following categories:

  • Fine arts;
  • Wellness and physical education;
  • Community and parental involvement;
  • 21st Century Workforce Development program;
  • Second language acquisition program;
  • Digital learning environment;
  • Dropout prevention strategies; and
  • Educational programs for gifted and talented students.

The performance criteria for each evaluation factor was developed by school district leaders, with representation from parents, teachers, and community members.   Each principal and leadership team used a rubric to self-evaluate their performance in each area and with the rubric an overall rating was generated.
