Maintenance - Integrated Pest Management
Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is responsible for pesticide and herbicide applications in and on district facilities and grounds. The Texas Structural Pest Control Board strictly regulates this department. Personnel licensed by the SPCB must apply any application of herbicides or pesticides on school property. The IPM program utilizes the safest chemicals (Green Label) for interior pesticide applications. A 48-hour posting at the facility is required prior to scheduled pesticide applications. Scheduled applications occur between the hours of 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday to Thursday.  Emergency applications require the campus administrator to sign an emergency wavier request. Emergency pesticide applications are for ants, wasps, and bees. Mechanical traps, glue boards, and bait stations are utilized for rodents. The IPM Department emphasizes sanitation of facilities, removal of food sources, removal of habitat, and removal of water sources to control interior pest and rodent problems.
