MISD construction projects are financed through bond
initiatives. Following a successful campaign directed by a
citizens’ Long-Range Facilities Planning Committee, McKinney voters
approved in February 2000, a total of $298,550,000 million for site
acquisition, new construction, facility improvements and technology to
accommodate a projected growth of 17,056 students. The remaining construction
projects approved in this 2002 bond initiative includes Boyd High School –
Phase I and MISD Stadium.
In October 2005, McKinney voters approved the 2005
bond initiative campaign directed by a citizens’ Long-Range Facilities
Planning Committee. A total
of $197,000,000 was approved for site acquisition, new construction of
Boyd High School – Phase II, one middle school (Middle School #5), up to
four new elementary schools, and a district-wide technology plan to
accommodate a projected growth of 9,000 students over the next six years.
