Bus Evacuation Practices
Bus Evacuation Practices
All McKinney ISD students and staff are required by
law to conduct a Bus Evacuation Practice. The state of Texas
recently passed House Bill No. 3190 which requires all districts in
the State of Texas to conduct the following:
• MISD to conduct a training session for all students and staff for
at least one hour
• MISD to conduct a practice drill at least twice each year
The objective of House Bill No. 3190 is for all students and staff
in the State of Texas to be trained on proper Emergency Evacuation
Procedures even if a student doesn’t normally ride a bus. In the
instance of a bus evacuation, students will be able to assist by
following the rules and instructions given by the driver.
Furthermore, students will be able to safely perform an actual drill
of an Emergency Evacuation safely with the support of Durham
Transportation and Greg Hill, Director of Safety, Security and
Transportation for McKinney ISD.
During the Bus Evacuation Practice, students and staff will watch a
short video then go outside by where each student and teacher will
load a Durham bus. Finally, students will practice exiting the bus
in a safe manner with the guidance of Durham Transportation and Greg
Hill, Director of Safety, Security and Transportation for McKinney
ISD.
It is highly recommended that students dress comfortable and
appropriately as part of the training will be outside. The district
recommends no skirts, dresses or high heels on the Bus Evacuation
Practice Day.
