McKinney ISD is fortunate to have a dedicated, enthusiastic parents' advocacy group for gifted and talented students! The combined efforts of ALPS and the McKinney ISD staff are helping the ALPHA program continue to move forward to meet the needs of these students.
The mission of ALPS is to support the MISD gifted and talented program; to provide a chain of communication between ALPS, the community, the schools, and the Board of Education; and to create expanded opportunities for gifted students in MISD.
Membership in ALPS is open to all persons interested in the mission of the organization. Annual memberships are $35; members dues go toward programs and information for parents, teacher training, student scholarships, and administration. The $35 may be waived due financial constraints. General meetings of ALPS will be held regularly throughout the school year, which begins in August. All parents of ALPHA students will be notified of the meeting dates and times via e-mail, campus newsletters, and fliers
Informational programs are scheduled throughout the school year so that all parents can be better informed about the needs of gifted and talented children, parenting these children, and about the ALPHA program at the different levels within M.I.S.D. You are encouraged to contact ALPS about their programming and membership.
