The Learner Support department coordinates and supervises all employees in all MISD schools. The department works with all campus principals and coordinators in the area of curriculum and instruction, as well as the district content specialists to coordinate and implement programs and practices to enhance student achievement at all MISD campuses.

The organization is separated into two divisions, elementary education and secondary education. Elementary education oversees the curriculum and instruction operation for all elementary schools while the secondary education department oversees the curriculum and instruction for both middle and high school programs.
