Read below to learn more about the 2009 Summer Mini-Camps. We were excited about another successful summer of fun and education through the mini-camp program. Check back in the Spring to learn about the 2010 Summer Mini-Camps.
McKinney ISD and The Office of Child Care Programs is proud to offer a large assortment of mini-camps for children ages 4 years old through 8th grade. Mini-camps will be held at Bennett Elementary School, located at 7760 Coronado Drive from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
All children enrolled will need to bring a change of clothes and a sack lunch. Microwaves are available, but lunches should not need refrigeration. A morning snack will be provided. Children are discouraged from bringing any personal games/toys, as staff cannot be responsible for lost or stolen items. All camps will include a wonderful assortment of planned activities, along with a short recess. Camps for preschoolers will include an age-appropriate quiet time.
Children ages 4 through 1st grade are highly encouraged to use the back entrance of Bennett and MUST be walked into the building and escorted to their classroom. Children can be dropped off as early as 8:45 a.m. Staff will be present with rosters the first day of each week to help direct parents to the right classroom. The teachers in the classrooms will sign the students in/out each day. Parents must come in and sign them out of their classroom at 2 p.m. Children must be picked up no later than 2:15 p.m.
For students in 2nd through 8th grades, parents may drop off in the front of the building in the circle drive. Students may be dropped off as early as 8:45 a.m. Pick-up will also be in the circle drive. As parents pull up, they will be asked to state their child’s last name and birth date. The staff members will call for the child to come out to the car. If there are any restrictions on pick-up, please note that on the form or attach any necessary documents.
Registration for MISD Summer Mini-Camps will begin March 9 and last until camps are full. Space will be limited and waiting lists will be maintained if necessary.
Registration forms will ONLY BE ACCEPTED at the Office of Child Care Programs. Located at 1434 North Central Expressway, Suite #103. The office is in the shopping strip on the northeast corner of Hwy. 75 and White Street.
The office is open until 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday and has a drop box for late evenings/weekends. Forms will not be accepted by fax or mail due to camp space availability.
Once a form is received, it will be processed and parents will be contacted by phone or e-mail to confirm enrollment.
The tuition is $99.00 per child/per camp. There is a one-time registration fee of $25 per child/$45 per family.
