Wade Johnson

Wade Johnson serves as the President of the McKinney ISD Board of Trustees. He and his wife, Wanda, are the parents of five children. All five of his children have been educated in McKinney ISD schools. They have two sets of twins that currently attend school in McKinney ISD, and one daughter that graduated from McKinney High School.

Mr. Johnson owns an Allstate Insurance agency and has worked with Allstate for more than 20 years. In addition, he is active in several other capacities in addition to the Board of Trustees. Mr. Johnson is a former Chairman of the Board of the McKinney Chamber of Commerce and McKinney Convention and Visitors Bureau. He currently also serves on the Presbyterian Hospital of Allen Board of Directors.

Mr. Johnson earned a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Southern Methodist University. In addition to attending school at SMU, he played for a successful SMU football program as a student athlete.

Mr. Johnson cites his interest in mentoring students as the catalyst for serving as a member of the Board of Trustees. He began his volunteer work as a coach for the Boys and Girls Club in McKinney. In addition, he worked with several men to create an organization called Christian Men of Vision and Principle (CMVP). The goal of the organization has been to create relationships with kids that need positive male role models in their lives.

He cites several issues as ongoing challenges for the District. Mr. Johnson states that we must work to “prepare for diversity and be able to provide a quality education to children from many different backgrounds.” In addition, he states that we must create an atmosphere where all children can meet challenges and succeed. He states that the Board of Trustees continues to place a high priority on recruiting and retaining quality teachers.

“The McKinney community has high expectations for their children, and with that comes high expectations for their education and learning environment. We see this as a positive and work hard to provide the high standard of education that the Board, District, and community at large expects for all students.”
