Wade Johnson is a former President of the McKinney ISD Board of Trustees. He has five children that have been educated in McKinney ISD schools. His twin girls currently attend high school in McKinney. His twin boys attend college at Baylor and UT-San Antonio, respectively. His oldest daughter also graduated from McKinney High School.
Mr. Johnson owns an Allstate Insurance agency and has worked with Allstate for more than 20 years. In addition, he is active in several other capacities in addition to the Board of Trustees. Mr. Johnson earned a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Southern Methodist University. In addition to attending school at SMU, he played for a successful SMU football program as a student athlete.
Mr. Johnson cites his interest in mentoring students as the catalyst for serving as a member of the Board of Trustees. He began his volunteer work as a coach for the Boys and Girls Club in McKinney. In addition, he worked with several men to create an organization called Christian Men of Vision and Principle (CMVP). The goal of the organization has been to create relationships with kids that need positive male role models in their lives.
He cites several issues as ongoing challenges for the District. Mr. Johnson states that we must work to “prepare for diversity and be able to provide a quality education to children from many different backgrounds.” In addition, he states that we must create an atmosphere where all children can meet challenges and succeed. He states that the Board of Trustees continues to place a high priority on recruiting and retaining quality teachers.
“The McKinney community has high expectations for their children, and with that comes high expectations for their education and learning environment. We see this as a positive and work hard to provide the high standard of education that the Board, District, and community at large expects for all students.”
